Downy phlox can be a challenging species to germinate. After a very good first year, 2024 did not yield any germination. We will not know the availability of this product until germination trials begin in late January. Sign up above to be notified when this species comes back into stock.

Downy phlox, also called prairie phlox, is a colorful early-season beauty! Being one of the few flowers blooming this time of year and owing to its vibrant color, downy phlox really stands out. Collecting seed for this plant is tricky. Once ripe, the small capsules burst open and the seed disperses. It is also difficult to start from seed, thus making its availability hard to predict. Special care is taken to offer this species grown from remnant population seed, but I think you’ll agree it’s worth it!
