Upland White Goldenrod Solidago ptarmicoides
$15.00
Don’t let the name fool you—this goldenrod isn’t golden at all. Solidago ptarmicoides, more often called upland white goldenrod or prairie aster, offers crisp white blooms that resemble small daisies, rising above stiff stems and narrow gray-green foliage. Blooming from late summer into fall, this species brings a fresh, clean contrast to the warm golds and purples of the autumn prairie.
A tough, drought-tolerant plant native to dry prairies, glacial till, and gravelly hillsides, upland white goldenrod is at home in lean soils and full sun. Our seed source comes from well-drained upland remnants in west-central Minnesota, making this ecotype especially well-suited to xeric plantings and restoration projects in the Upper Midwest.
Pollinators love it—especially bees and late-season butterflies—and its tidy, upright form makes it a great choice for formal native plantings as well as naturalistic designs.
